English Alder Wood Fire Spiral Wand
This is a stunning wand made from a piece of Alder, found on the Somerset Levels surrounding the Isle of Avalon - Glastonbury
I stripped the bark from it and pyrographed (burnt) and painted an intricate pattern of spirals along it's length - reds turning to orange to yellow.
The wand measures about 32 cm in length.
It will come to you with a free wand bag to keep it safe for traveling with (and which is also very useful to tie to your belt in rituals!)
Alder grows with it's feet wet, along the edges of rivers and lakes. It used to be used to make shields (the wood is strong and light) and is resistant to rot, and so was used where structures needed to be built in water, both of these make give it properties of protection. It is also associated with Bran and with divination and with Fire.
