GreenwomanCrafts was created in 1998 by Raven Edgewalker to showcase their handmade, beautiful pagan tools and jewellery.
Raven Edgewalker
…identifies as a queer swamp witch and a collector of unconsidered trifles. They are a British Witch who dwells in the magical landscape of Somerset, in an old stone cottage with a large, hairy and devoted hound. They have an on-going, passionate love affair with trees, ecology and the natural world. They see their work in the world as that of building kinship, with self, with each other, with and within community, with the world, with deity and with seen and unseen beings. Raven has spent many years walking the land, listening to the songs, stories and poems that it has to offer, deepening their own connection with this glorious earth and learning how to guide others to open to deeper relationships of their own.
They have been working, studying and teaching magic in both the Anderson Feri and Reclaiming traditions for many years and is an initiate in both traditions. Raven has traveled to teach courses, classes and Reclaiming Tradition Witchcamps internationally including in the UK, USA, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Israel and Australia as well as online classes from wherever they happen to have traveled to with their laptop.
Raven started Greenwomancrafts in 1998 and is a full time self-employed artist and craftsperson- They are often to be found in the workshop, covered in sawdust while making ogham staves, runes, wands and other such delights, in the studio with wire and stones and beads creating jewellery or hunched over their vintage sewing machine.
Over many years Greenwomancrafts has evolved from a part-time business to a full-time business providing magical tools, ritual jewellery, divination sets, original photography and curated repurposed vintage ornaments to pagans all over the world.
Greenwomancrafts specialises in ogham sets, ritual jewellery, especially amber and jet necklaces and scrying mirrors made from up-cycled clocks and photo frames. They use the art of pyrography (wood-burning) to ornament their work.
Raven believes in "practicing what they preach" and makes every effort to reuse, recycle, reclaim and up-cycle materials for their work when possible. They are a devotee of the Celtic Ogham and a lover of trees - thus they use only found wood for their work. They do not harvest living wood and instead rely on found wood - often from storm-damage, driftwood, dead-fall and sometimes prunings from gardening or forestry work.
They are always happy to discuss commissions and to work with you to create a special and unique item.
In the last 10 years Greenwomancrafts has birthed a US based sibling store – Mythospheria. Based mainly on the etsy platform, and owned by a close friend and colleague, Mythospheria sells Raven’s work directly to customers in the US.
What does handmade mean?
Handmade is a term that is used in a number of different ways, and to cover a number of different processes. Greenwomancrafts uses this term to describe items that we make that are crafted in our workshop, using basic, hand-guided tools. These may be electric powered tools like sanders, drills, sewing machines, DSLR cameras and pigment printers, but are often tools such as handsaws, carving knives, scissors and needles.
We try hard to provide this information in our listings and specify when and if an item is handmade, made by a production partner, or if an item is upcycled or refurbished in the Greenwomancrafts studio.
Sustainability & Environmental Impact
Greenwomancrafts is committed to increasing its sustainability and lessening its environmental impact while acknowledging that this is challenging and we are not perfect. Much of the wood we use is found rather than harvested - this maybe from storm-felled wood, local tree surgery work and sometimes wood and materials from our own garden and trees.
Where possible, gemstones and beads in our jewellery are upcycled from second hand, vintage or antique sources. We are increasing the use of second hand materials in our work as much as we can.
We acknowledge the need to source new materials at times, and try and try and do this only after exploring other sources.
